Kathmandu: The Third International Investment Summit, originally slated for April 21-22, has been rescheduled to April 28 and 29. Sushil Bhatta, CEO of the Investment Board and member secretary of the Investment Summit Steering Committee, informed the RSS about the revised dates. The updated schedule is expected to receive official endorsement during the second meeting of the Steering Committee at the Finance Ministry today.

Chaired by Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, the Steering Committee holds the responsibility of approving the Summit's schedule and format. It also identifies areas for policy reforms to enhance the investment climate and oversees all aspects of the Summit. Committee members include ministers from various sectors, the vice-chair of the National Planning Commission, chief secretary, governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, and representatives from the private sector.

In its first meeting on November 26, the Steering Committee directed the government to facilitate discussions with potential investors, identify likely investors, call for project proposals, and secure their endorsements.

To prepare for the Summit, Implementation and Technical Committees have been formed. These committees focus on legal and structural reforms and aim to inform investors about the upcoming event. The Implementation Committee, led by the chief secretary, recently issued a circular through the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration to provinces and local levels, requesting details of viable projects for presentation as showcase projects during the Summit.
